Lockie Ferguson conceded 14 runs in the final over, handing Rajasthan Royals their first win since April 27 and Royal Challengers Bangalore their first loss since then in the IPL 2024 Eliminator. RR now face Lucknow Super Giants in the second Qualifier on May 16, while RCB's season comes to an end.

RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson took on the RCB bowlers from the start, scoring 60 runs in the powerplay. Jaiswal was dismissed for 41 off 29 balls, but Samson continued to attack, reaching his fifty off 34 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 61 off 41 balls, but by then RR had reached 120/2 in 10 overs.

RCB fought back in the middle overs, with Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga picking up wickets. However, RR's middle order held firm, with Devdutt Padikkal (35) and Riyan Parag (28) contributing valuable runs. RR eventually finished on 190/6, with Ferguson conceding 14 runs in the final over.

RCB's chase never really got going, as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Virat Kohli was dismissed for 23, while Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell both fell cheaply. Dinesh Karthik (37) and Shahbaz Ahmed (26) added some respectability to the score, but RCB were eventually bowled out for 149 in 19 overs.

Ferguson was the pick of the RR bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/29. Kuldeep Sen and Yuzvendra Chahal also picked up two wickets each.
